Recording Actions in Photoshop

There are times in my workflow when I need to repeat several steps on hundreds of photographs. It’s times like this when Automation is my friend.

For example, say I’ve just returned from a photo shoot where I’ve captured 500 images. I’ve already gone through my typical cataloging workflow and exported my master files to a directory on my hard drive. Now I need to save these larger files down in size and quality for upload to Facebook or Flickr or your own personal web site. Instead of going through the tedious steps of opening each file, then launching the Save for Web Utility in Photoshop, I just need to record an action that takes care of all the steps for me.

In this tutorial I walk through the steps for recording your very own Photoshop Action.

A quick tutorial about recording actions using Photoshop’s Action Window.
If you’ve ever needed to perform the same steps on more than one file at a time, this tutorial will save you a lot of time.
